Post: Getting Started North of McKinney

After a long time saving and learning I've got the nugget I want to use to begin my REI journey. My current plan is:

Single family 3/2's along the McKinney to Dennison stretch of 75. Looking in lower middle class areas where cash purchase + rehab comes in at 120k. While I'm local (Allen) I need to approach this as if I were out of state. That means working with an agent, gc and property manager who can work online and with minimal physical presence. I have access to legal and accounting from my software consulting. I'm looking BRRRR to hold, but should have flexibility by not needing to finance out of the gate should a different exit be needed.

My next step seems to be contacting agents and property management in the area.  Once the hunt begins in earnest finding a contractor will be the biggest hurdle.  I've been reluctant to make these calls in the past because I don't want to waste people's time.  Now I'm ready to move forward and it's time to meet people.

Wish me luck!

There are a good number of RE tech businesses in the area; RealEstate IQ, Redfin, Tavant, HomesUSA.com, Compass.com....quite a few.  Does there happen to be a "tech in real estate" meet up in the area?

I'm looking for a good accountant, preferably in the Plano, Denton, McKinney triangle. My current situation is a single person LLC from which I do software consulting. That's growing to the point that professional help is appropriate. The reason I'm asking here is in the last quarter of 2020, I'll be hunting for my first BRRRR deal and I'd rather have a relationship with an accountant that can help me make the most of things on that side going forward.

My solo search hasn't turned up a group I'm really happy with.  Reaching out the community seemed like the next step.

Also, if anyone has solid resources on "how to hire X" for professional services, I'd be interested.

Alfie Park, today, you are my hero.  Please keep posting your journey.  I'm eager to hear more.

Local economic development corporations have info as well.    Such as: https://allenedc.com/

@Amber Terry, I'm in much the same boat as you.  My current book just happens to be Investing in Duplexes, Triplexes and Quads, by Larry B. Loftis.  I'm fairly certain it was recommended to me from a BP list of books.

I'm looking for a local, newbie friendly, meetup in the Plano/Frisco area. Any ongoing meetups that might be welcoming?
