I can’t say anything about specific refinancing, but The Farmers Bank has been great to work with overall on my personal mortgage as well as purchasing my first two properties. 

Congratulations Joshua.  I know the feeling!  I am closing on my first two properties at the end of this month.  It's fun to have others supporting you and building your confidence on BP.  Looking forward to learning more.

Thanks Michael.  I'm not real sure about how to get a network started myself but would like to get a wider net.

I am fairly new to Bigger Pockets forums but have been listening to pod casts for some time now.  Thanks to the confidence builders I continue to hear, we are closing on two single family properties at the end of July with my brother.

Couple of notes I wanted to say before questions.

1. I'm planning to use the contract that I've gained from a friend who has 40+ properties

2. 1 house is rented and one vacant

3. Vacant house I'm simply touching up and painting

Question: 

1. Any specific site you would recommend for background checks?

2. How long should they have held current job to be a good candidate?

3.  Any other tips are welcome.

Hi Bigger Pockets Nation!

My name is Adam Schmitt and I'm from the Indianapolis, IN area, Avon to be specific.  I moved here about a year ago along with my then Fiance, Kayla.  Kayla and I were married in January of this year and excited to start our future together.  

I work full time in the agriculture industry and Kayla is currently finishing up nursing school.  I have been interested in buy and hold properties for some time now, but have been reluctant due to the feeling of not being in a stable location.  Through listening to many individuals on the Pod casts, I realize investing in Real Estate doesn't mean you have to live beside the property forever.  

My goals in real estate are to create long term wealth and build an income strong enough to replace my current full time job.  Short term, I am interested in single and multi family properties.  Longer term, I would like to get into the commercial property scene as well.    

I'm excited to get started on our investment path as we plan to close on two single family properties at end of July.

Hi Michael.  I too am from the Indy area.  We moved to Avon roughly a year ago.  Similar to you I've been interested in getting into buy and hold real estate for some time and happy to say I am getting started.  We are purchasing our first two rental homes this month.  One thing I would like to do is broaden my network both on here and locally.  I haven't found a good place locally to network.  yourself?
