When not investing full time, I spend my time running a REI Club that helps and teaches others how to become free like me.

What does that mean, just free to do what I love. Doesn't really mean I work less (but then again I am a work-a-holic).

Nice question. Curious to see some of the responses.

Maybe a follow up should be to ask how long did it take people to go from wanting to invest to being full time at it (and be successfully investing full-time by choice).

I have a few vehicles.

The one I drive to meet with sellers, talk to tenants, etc is a Chevy Malibu. Very unassuming.

I also have mini-vans, etc.

But the one I sport most days is a BMW X5. Love the v8. Ok so it sucks down the gas, but boy it can go and sounds tough when you turn over the ignition!

Christian,

First let me say WELCOME to the boards. Glad to have you here!

I was stationed at Gunter annex for a few years back in the day. I still have some property interests there in the area. Millbrook is just east of Prattville right?

Well anyway, your post brought back some memories of being stationed there.

Good luck to you and I look forward to dealing with you on Bigger Pockets!

Sorry about about $700 repair. Good thing you act on repairing the rental now. You know the old adage, "An Ounce of Prevention equals a Pound of Cure"!

Why not just change your middle name to Bigger and your last name to Pockets. I mean after all, you will be changing your name, might as well get a cool one!

Sorry Josh, but hey the Rockies were in the World Series. The last time the Cubs made the series we Dropped the Bomb on Japan!! So think about that some!

Congrats to the Red Sox. In other news, I hear that Kobe is about to be traded to the Bulls and that AROD has opted out of his contract with the Yankees, and wants to be paid less but will take part ownership from whomever the new owner of the Cubs are, in order to come play for Lou P again here in Chicago.

John,

Actually I know the answer only because I used to be a tour guide many years ago here in Chicago.

It dates back to the late 1800's actually right before the World's Fair in 1893. I do believe that Chicago and New York were competing for the right to host it, and our politicians were Bragging and going on. So an editor Mr. Dana, from the New York Sun, wrote an editorial telling New Yorkers to ignore the Windy City

Now some have claimed that it was used as an advertising campaign to come spend vacation time along the lake resorts and enjoy the breezes off the lake, but there is no proof of that being the case to date as verifiable.

Either way, we do have winds, but as you mention we aren't close to having the heaviest winds!

Want a better question, why is O'Hare airport designated as ORD?

Or better, what significance did Prohibition have on the naming of O'Hare airport?

May,

Welcome the BP. I think you will really learn a ton from here. I take that back. I KNOW you will learn a ton here. I too am in Chicago. I know many great Investor Friendly Realtors. So feel free to PM me on here to get their details. I am sure they don't want me posting their contacting information for all the world to see.

Also as mentioned there is a great REI group here (hint check my sig block). So if you are ready to make the move, check it out.

Good luck and I look forward to you contributing to this great BP community!

Hello Brian, and welcome to Bigger Pockets. So you split time between NV and UT? How often are you in each? Is one a summer home?

How are the markets out there?

Again welcome to the BP community/family.
