Well considering my history with being a life long cub fan, then being paralyzed last year from being struck in the head by a line drive a Wrigley.. I think it best that I share with you some of the finer words by a great singer/songwriter that Luekemia took from us back in 1984 just days before the Cubs cliched the division, Steve Goodman.

Do they still sing the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around?
When the snow melts away
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground.

When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the national league

eFairch,

Where in IL are you from? I currently have the Treo 700 after upgrading from the 650. My 650 locked/froze all the time. Was quite frustrating. If you are near Chicago, maybe we can meet. I would like to take the 755 for a "test drive" if you will.

Thanks,

Feol,

Welcome to BP! I am sure that you will not only learn a ton, but be able to assist others here as well.

I will say that I know some investors from Chicago that have been doing alot of great things down in Memphis. (I won't reference the Marc Cohn song Walking in Memphis).

Please keep us informed as to how things progress for you down there.

Tay,

I guess a Welcome Back is called for here (Sorry I said welcome back and my mind wondered to Vinny Babarino, Horshak, and Mr. Kotter).

Great that you have some development experience under your belt. I look forward to reading your many posts that will only serve to educate, enlighten and aid other members on this site!

Keep it up!

Matt,

First let me just say how jealous I am. Had I started learning about REI when I was your age, who knows maybe Trump would be working for me.

The first lesson is that find out what your passion is and go after it with everything you have!

Welcome aboard, and I look forward to hearing of your future success!!!

Pam,

First welcome to the gang here at BiggerPockets. I have heard good things about the market in Dayton. I have some contacts in the Cincy area that went to school in Dayton. I have invested with them in Cincy, so we might be heading to Dayton soon.

I look foward to hearing of your many succeses.

Well since people have wagers on my real age I can't say how old I was when I started because that would give away my age.

I will say I have been doing it for 12 years now. I wish I had started earlier. Kudos to those that are doing it early like age 20! I don't regret not starting then, as my time spent in our country's military was well spent.

to find properties you have to MARKET. My most cost effecient form of getting leads is direct mail! I use postcard primarily.

I live in Chicago. The Windy City - although not because it is windy, but because our politicians were (actually still are) full of so much hot air. Yes that is why it has the nickname. New York actually has worse wind than Chicago.

Anyway.. the theater scene, sports scene and restaurants are amazing. The winters can be nippy, but it makes you value the springs and summers even more.

The real estate market is slow now, but it normally is steady price wise. We don't get massive appreciation cycles normally here.

The only bad thing is that our politicians are always doing illegal things, being busted, etc etc... But aside from that, I am not moving anytime soon!

I would stay away from using your name. Just the same as investing using your own name to own property, not smart from a legal or liability aspect.

If your website is registered using your own name, then it could easily be use to break the veil of liability if a tenant files a suit against the owner of the property. Then all of your personal assets are now involved.

I am not saying this to be the truth as I am not an attorney, just you want to keep your name out of ownership of anything typically.
