Q? | In-accurate details on recently issued homeowners insurance policy
What is best practice for correcting details on a recently issued homeowners insurance policy? The property was renovated a few years ago (we purchased in February 23) and the details are incorrect. List of issues:
1. Current home is approx 3500 sf of finished space. Policy states 1450 sf.
2. Current home is finished basement and main level. Policy states unfinished basement.
3. Current home has no garage. Policy states attached 1-car garage.
My (Spock-ish) logic tells me that you need to insure for what the property actually is, not what the insurance company thinks it is. I would assume the annual cost would also increase, but not sure by how much to anticipate.
Advice?
Many thanks!
Jeffrey
