Inspection on new construction

Alan Velazquez

I am buying a new construction house in Houston, Texas and I just found out that with new houses you can have your own inspector go check on the houses during different stages of the process not just at the end when it is completed. Do I need to notify the seller that I have an inspector that will be going to check on the progress of the house? Seller is very short on email communication and it is frustrating because my realtor is also not being proactive. Any advice helps thanks!

@Alan Velazquez tell your realtor to do their job...ha!  Have you broken ground yet?  The 3 stages that many people will have inspected just before the foundation is poured, just before the home is sheetrocked, and before final walk through.  If that give you a 10 year warranty on the foundation or something like that, the pre pour inspection might not be necessary.  The other 2 inspections are definitely recommended.  Usually the 2 inspections combined should be around $600.
