How to Get Started
Fiance (Spokane, WA) just graduated from college and is working on getting experience in real estate looking at property management. She is a photographer and doesn't have any previous experience in real estate. Any advice on the best way to get started other than looking for personal connections to a property management company? Also would love any advice on other way to get experience with the long term goal of building a RE portfolio.

Quote from @Isaac Ballew:
Go to indeed.com or monster.com and look for a job with a larger, reputable property management company. She can make a decent paycheck while learning all aspects of property management quickly. They may even help her get licensed. She may be able to do sales on the side. She'll quickly learn which properties perform best, how to handle tenants and contractors, and much more.

Hi Isaac,
The best way is to attend local meetups and connect with people within the community. You can always start off in real estate by acquiring a property as a primary residence. You can put as low as 3.5%-5% down payment and rent out the vacant units to offset your mortgage as we all call it Househack @Carlos Valencia @Albert Bui

House hack and give her the reigns managing the other unit(s).
If she wants to manage in WA for others she'll need a real estate license. She can work at one of the big companies here in town for some experience or set up shop on her own.

Check out Deese property management. Not sure if they are hiring but they manage all our property in Spokane. Are ethical and do it the right way. Would be a great place to learn. Also, Billy Deese is a brokerage so you can learn that side of the business. He works with a lot of investors (like us) in buying, rehabbing, and renting properties.
