How to Get Started

Isaac Ballew
Posted

Fiance (Spokane, WA) just graduated from college and is working on getting experience in real estate looking at property management. She is a photographer and doesn't have any previous experience in real estate. Any advice on the best way to get started other than looking for personal connections to a property management company? Also would love any advice on other way to get experience with the long term goal of building a RE portfolio.

Go to indeed.com or monster.com and look for a job with a larger, reputable property management company. She can make a decent paycheck while learning all aspects of property management quickly. They may even help her get licensed. She may be able to do sales on the side. She'll quickly learn which properties perform best, how to handle tenants and contractors, and much more.
