Rental SFH in Austin for Investment

Hello All,

I'm new in BiggerPockets. Currently living in California and looking to invest in SFH in Austin,TX. Questions that I had,

1) How soon we can get renters? Does SFH go on rent sooner?

2) What should I keep in mind while looking for SFH to attract renters? Should I look for 3 bed 2 bath/ 4 bed 2 bath/ or 5 bed 3 bath property?

3) Is there any other area should I look for as well except of Austin? I’m open for anywhere in USA.

Thanks all in advance :)

@Parth Patel To answer your questions.

1) A local real estate agent can run rental comps for the specific neighborhood with similar quality and style homes. Every areas is different. Sometimes a simple thing like which side of the street (often due to school districts) will affect how appealing a home is to tenants.

2) Typically a 3 bed 2 bath 2 car garage will be the most desirable rental in Texas. The homes with more bedrooms tend to sit on the market longer.

3) Austin is a great market. Lots of strong employment growth. The local politics make Austin proper less attractive to landlords. You may want to visit with a local agent to pick out a better suburb of Austin.  San Antonio is a more service industry marketplace with strong tenant demand and lower price points. Personally, I like Dallas Fort Worth. It also has a strong employment growth. With a great diversity of industries. I can recommend solid agents for each market place if you need referrals.
