1 dollar houses

So I heard on the radio this morning that the city is selling some houses for 1 dollar in Kansas City. In the end they will give you 8,500 dollars if you fix and flip after the sale. If you live in it they will give the money up front. If anyone happens to get one of these houses I'd like to see the success story! Here is a link from a quick Google search http://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/kcmo-selling-vacant-houses-for-only-a-dollar

I've personally looked at a few of the $1 houses. Let's just say If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

The homes ARV hovered @ or under 30k and would get ~$500 in rents in quite rough neighborhoods.  While there may be some cash flow opportunities, I couldn't justify the headache and investment.
