Vacation rental registration in Fort Lauderdale

I'm considering starting a vacation rental in Fort Lauderdale. The numbers look good, but does anyone have experience registering with the city  here ?

-How long does it take to get approved?

-Anything I should do to ensure approval, besides what is listed online?

Any tips on good areas or general tips would be appreciated. I have experience running VR's in NYC, but due to recent regulation am looking at other areas.
