Can a stucco facade be removed from a brick house?

So I came across a house today that the current owner had put a white stucco facade over all the brick on the exterior of a house. It wasn't a very well done job, either. You could see the edge of the backing screen in places and it looks cheap. House was built in 1986. I would assume that this could not be removed without damaging the underlying original brick? Has anyone run across this before? Not to mention the entire interior of the house was painted periwinkle purple, but that's a whole 'nother story, lol

Just about anything can be removed from brick, check into sandblasting, that will clean anything off except bad taste. Guess you're buying paint too.  :)
