Looking to follow a fix and flip investor

Hey guys!

Determined to buy a house to fix and flip and looking to find someone I can connect with to maybe show me the ropes! Willing to work as an extra hand or anything like that for a house flipper with experience to kind of get that hands on learning that I need! I've been listening to hours of podcasts and read as much as I can since the beginning of the year and would love to see it all in action.

if anyone knows someone looking for some extra help, I'm super eager to learn!

I wouldn't start on the Internet for that because people can be creepy. Cleveland has a lot of good in-person real estate investor meetups. If you go to one of those as often as possible, your person will appear through honest networking and relationship building.

HI @Anna Deatherage

I would look to connect with a property manager or agent in your area. It's free, go to the top of the page and click AGENTS or PROPERTY MANAGERS and they might be able to point you in the right direction

There are monthly meetups in Independence, Lakewood, W 25th, Stow, and at the Aviator. I don't know what side of town you are on, but you can easily connect with a network of investors and vendors in this manner. As Preston said, you can search on BP, but you will only see the service providers who are paying to be shown. You can obviously search on threads that are about our local area, but many people do not post, even if they are "on BP". Many more are not on the site. Join local FB groups for RE investors as well, there are one off events posted on those often enough.

You can expand your network in this manner, which will lead to conversations with people of varying backgrounds, who may need your help. For example, at two events in the past week I met: a Dr. couple looking to get into investing, someone with four houses, someone with two duplexes, someone with a title company and 64 doors, someone with a couple apartment buildings and a winery, someone else with a title company and a parking lot striping company. It's random, and those were just the people that I happened to meet over a couple of hours (and I'm not naturally extroverted).

The facebook groups are a great place to find mentor programs and such in your local markets

Hey Anna I flip around 2-5 homes a month right now in the Cleveland, Ohio area. What are you looking to learn?

I've found the bp meetup in independence that I've been to! And then I've also looked on meetup and I'm trying to go to a couple this month. Is this the easiest way to find the meetups in your opinion

@Anna Deatherage Sure, searching on meetup and joining local FB investor groups (where other meetups are occasionally posted) gets you into the network. As you get to know more people in the business you will hear of others. There are a couple that use eventbrite for registration, but I usually see those posted on FB as well.

That's awesome!  You're definitely on the right track and live in a great real estate market to be successful!  Here's an out of the box strategy that I used to learn about real estate investing as quickly as possible, was to get my real estate license and start working with investors and property management companies.

Getting a real estate license is not that expensive and it's all online now, so it's pretty easy to get.  That way you can work with investors and house flippers and get paid while doing it, and learn a lot of their strategies and techniques while helping them find properties.  That way you don't risk any of your own capital, but get a chance to learn and observe first hand, so when you're ready to invest, you're way ahead of the game.

A lot of expert real estate agents on here also invest and own properties and is a good strategy to consider if you're investing locally.  Best of luck!  Happy to help anyway I can.

I wish you lived in the Memphis area.  I'm a flipper and could be of help.
