Short-term Rentals (Airbnb) in Jacksonville

I see plenty of Airbnb listings in Jacksonville, but little information on short term rental regulations for the city. Are there regulations (hotel tax?) governing these short term rentals, or any special hoops to jump through when starting up?

For Jacksonville Beach at least, STRs appear to be legal since Sept 2019.

Soooo, what is the rule for jacksonville (non-beaches), is airbnb legal? I keep hearing str has to be in historic or commercial area and single family is not allowed but cant find any written ordinance to support this. If they didnt have anything before 2011 I dont think they can come out with one now. Anyone knowledgeable on this?

Hey y'all! I noticed there's over 4500 rentable properties and Jacksonville, Florida and the area. To the person who found the lawsuit found JAX can't prohibit STR if not in hoa or restricted area, what is required? Dpbr, also pay a local tax? Why would the regulators come after people in Riverside and not come after someone in a standard residential neighborhood?

I would love more insights. It’s terrible when you call and talk to the city, they make it seem like they have the authority over every property and Duval county, but I’ve also seen the conflicting information that they do not.so what should I Ed do?

Airbnb and VRBO collect state tax but should we wait until we are bothered to register? I asked us because we're considering additional STR and Duvall county where is we have properties in another county with no incident
