How do you keep yourself accountable to your goals?

Is "accountability" just a buzzword?

Is it simply another word for peer pressure?

What does that word actually mean to you in relation to your investing goals?

Are you able to hold yourself accountable for the most part? Or do you do better with an external accountability buddy?

How do you really hold yourself or others accountable in practice?

These are the practical questions I think about when I hear a lot of chatter about this illusive thing called accountability. Particularly in business and investing that term gets thrown around a lot; accountability, mastermind groups, courses, etc, etc. You see it in all kinds of advertising and marketing for guru offerings, but when you get down to it, what does it really mean, and how can it impact you?

Accountability groups are a big selling point for me in this years BiggerPockets Momentum 2025 cohort. Don't know what Momentum 2025 is? Get the details here

I'm really looking forward to learning from some of the best real estate educators, and then being able to take those lessons to smaller accountability groups to be able to discuss putting them into action with motivated peers.  To me these accountability groups mean that I'll have someone to report back to about wins and fails to help with prospective and motivation.

I'm curious to everyone else in the BP community, what does accountability mean to you? Have you been in a real-estate accountability group before? Is it something you're seeking or looking forward to joining?

For those of you looking for accountability opportunities, and small group masterminds I encourage you to join me at Momentum 2025, it's an 8-week summit with weekly virtual courses and meetings. It's a winning combination of direct access to industry experts coupled with building lasting relationships and get direct feedback on your strategies in small-group format.

I am a numbers guy so being able to look at trends, numbers helps me stay accountable. Also being able to write down/document goals I set earlier and see if they are being hit. From there it's running a schedule and taking responsibility for my actions. For another business I run I do post daily accountability in a FB/mentorship group and that does help me stay on track. Might be good to apply to real estate.
