Finding the right REI Group & improving networking skills.

Hi everyone! As a fresh-faced investor who is looking to purchase her first property by the end of the year, I'm wondering if some of you more experienced folks would mind sharing some wisdom on REI groups. I've been to a couple in my area, and plan to attend many more, but I haven't felt like I've clicked with any so far. What qualities should I be looking for in a REI Group? I'm not sure if I just haven't found the right group for me, or if I just need to improve my networking skills. In which case, what questions do you think every newbie should be asking at REI Groups? Thank you for your time and feedback!

Welcome to biggerpockets and congratulations on doing the work, @Mia Norton!

Exciting times!

Yes indeed... there are just so many resources out there that you can easily get lost and stumble across mediocre content at best.

BiggerPockets and the various forums is a great place to start.

Couple questions I would have for you is where are you located? Where do you want to invest? What type of investing are you looking to get into? That could help narrow it down a bit.

Facebook is a pretty active platform when it comes to real estate investing. There are tons of very specific groups you could search for and look into joining.

The biggest piece of advice I would have isn't necessarily about what specific questions to ask, rather than simply actively participating on a consistent basis so you can network with like-minded people. Build meaningful relationships and find ways you can provide others with value.

Let me know if you want to discuss more, happy to share some of the things (and mistakes) we did and still do today. Do not hesitate to reach out, connect and DM me if you want.
