Brand Spanking New to Real Estate Investing. Virginia - Texas

Hope everyone is healthy and safe.

I’ve been a constant browser/lurker of the forums but never had the courage to introduce myself until today. You can say that I had “analysis paralysis'' on my first introduction post. But the courage came from my decision to commit to real estate investing, so it finally trumped the paralysis!

For the past years, I have been living and doing work in Asia but now I am back home in the States and currently living in the Metro DC area with my family. The ultimate goal here is not only the financial wealth that REI can provide, but time that I can spend with them doing what we love the most.

I have been educating myself by reading and studying everything I can get my hands on REI, including the BiggerPockets Podcast/s and books. I can't wait to get started but at the same time scared senseless because I know I still have so much to learn.

I am looking into buying our first property this year. Looking into Texas, maybe Houston or Austin metropolitan areas. Or if anyone can suggest areas, I would love to hear it. Looking to start slow and learn, then ramp up from there. I am looking to start with a Live-in Flip then shortly thereafter a few more rentals here and there.

I am also looking forward to connecting with everyone and being a part of this community.

Talk to you guys soon.

@Jenny Roman Great! Make the jump. Owning rental properties has been the best financial decision I have ever made. Both areas are ok. Houston is more affordable. I believe Austin has more growth in its future (think Tesla). I know a great agent in Austin if you need a referral.
