Hey guys, new to the site. Looking for my 1st deal in Bakersfield, Ca. Looking to house hack. I have $18k for. Down payment. Any suggestions? New to investing

Hi Justin,

I would suggest meeting with a mortgage broker to see how much you will qualify for.

Then you can either work with an agent to get something off the MLS, or you can send direct marketing to potential sellers, but generally marketing to sellers takes time and money.

We have a real estate investors meetup this Thursday in Bakersfield if you are interested in meeting other investors.  Its free, other than purchasing dinner from Rusty's pizza that provides the venue.  Details are in the bigger pockets events section.  Note that we start at 6.30 not 8pm as listed.  There was no obvious way to edit the listing.
