Investor Eager to Learn and Start - Houston, TX

Hello everyone! I'm excited to be on here! I've contemplated getting into the real estate industry for a while, just never got serious about it until now (yes, I'm one of those HGTV watchers lol but I do understand what they show doesn't show the true/full picture).

Originally a Kansas boy, work has dragged me to the Houston area where I am looking at setting up shop as an REI until it can replace my income and become financially free (currently in engineering but love hands-on work). As mentioned, my end goal is to become financially free but with the reason being that one, I don't want to work for money all my life, and two, I want to be able to travel and see things before I'm too old to enjoy them. My aunt and uncle are starting the business of flipping houses and encouraged me to read Rich Dad Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki, seems like most here have read it; I gobbled it up in two days!) and also to join in on here to learn more, so happily, here I am!

I'm nervous but excited to get started. Little to no cash at the moment, so looking forward to reading Brandon Turner's book on that topic. Looking forward to meeting you all!
