New Member moving to Anacortes, WA looking for my 1st Deal

Hey everyone!

My name is Hunter Craig. I am a Naval Aviator, which is my primary focus, however, I have recently decided to pursue real estate from an investing stand point. I was referred to BP and I have really loved what I have read and listened to on the podcast. A wealth of info.

I currently live in Jacksonville, FL where I am finishing some training. I will be moving to Anacortes, WA in the next few months so I have been watching the market there pretty closely. Right now I am looking for some deals in the Anacortes/Oak Harbor area. I am trying to make some connections with some brokers/wholesalers in the area.

My investing strategy is primarily going to be buy and hold. I would like to find a distressed property in which I can live in and do most of the rehab my self. Develop some sweat equity before I turn it into a rental. If anyone has some good connections for the Northeast Washinton area I would love the help. Thank you!

@evan craig Welcome to the area, almost. I love Anacortes. There is a duplex on the MLS that needs about $80k of work, but it could be a solid investment. I notice people around here tend to shy away from the traditional investor ugly homes. There is a podcast, maybe 162, with Bill Allen, a Navy flight instructor and his tips for investing while employed full time in the Navy. I don't come across too many investor agents in the area, but I'll pass along all my recommendations. The closest REIA is in Bellingham, maybe we can start one in Anacortes!
