@James Miller it would be ideal to find a good deal on a multifamily in Oak Harbor or Anacortes but from what I have seen I think that is only going to get harder to find. I remember seeing several four plexes in Oak Harbor that were going for about 350k about a year ago but those have since gone off the market. I just have to keep my eyes peeled. Which is tough from the other side of the country.

@Elizabeth Colegrove Nice to meet you! I completely agree and understand that the market in Anacortes and Oak Harbor is rather expensive. Knowing that the base is only going to be expanding in the coming years leads me to believe that rents will not go down anytime soon. As well as prices overall. Are you just sticking to your numbers criteria that you've used in the past for other duty stations? 

Your guys portfolio sounds very similar to what I would like to create over the next several years. I would love any connection you may have including realtors in that area. Thank you!

@Scott Price Thank you for letting me know about the pending Oak Harbor meet up. Hopefully I will be up there at that time so I can attend!

@Troy Fisher I'll have to listen to that podcast! I hope to be able to get at least a few rental properties at every duty station.

That's cool that you've had a similar moving transition. I think that mostly when I refer to Investor friendly realtors I mean someone who understands kind of what my criteria is in that this property won't necessarily be a primary residence (Except for at first in the case of live in rehab or house hacking). Also, seeing eye to eye on offers that I may make when trying to make a deal that allows the property to meet my determined criteria, which I am still trying to figure out. I agree with everything that you have said in relation to Anacortes. I know the opportunity is there, I just need to find the right deal!

I am looking at Oak Harbor as well. I would agree you definitely get more bang for your buck there. While Anacortes is a little more expensive, I am finding that it has better resale opportunity. Also, the rental market there is very slim, and I know the demand is there for reasonable rental properties. But I am open to both areas!

@Tony Gallina and @Clayton Swansen Thank you for letting me know about the meetup in Bellingham. Once I get there I will be sure to attend! 

@Julie Marquez I've also seen a few homes that have either studios in the backyard or the basement is detached from the upstairs. I haven't looked at the zonning map yet for Anacortes. I'll have to check that out.

@Mark Nolan Thank you for the recommendation! I love the Carlsbad area. I've spent a lot of time there and Oceanside as well.
