Moving back to KC to invest
I left Kansas City four years ago, but now I've decided to move back and invest in real estate, specifically buying and holding single family homes. My current thought is to buy and rehab homes with an ARV in the sub-$100k range, since it seems possible to hit 1.5 to 2.0% rental rates.
I have a great contractor on board, but there are still a lot of holes in my plan. I'd love to get some referrals for CPAs and attorneys, and am open to input on the pros and cons of operating in Kansas vs. Missouri. I'm most familiar with Johnson County, Westport/midtown/downtown, and the Northland. The Northland seems to be an emerging opportunity, but I'm open to any part of the metro.
I'd love to meet some people with related interests, and would also appreciate any info on local groups.

Hey @Chad Speer, welcome!! I am in a very similar situation. Moved away in 2006 and just moved back to invest here in KC. JoCo is great but VERY hard to find deals. So being flexible is a great strategy.
There is an REI group that meets every Wednesday and another that meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Both are worth checking out. If you plan to hit one up, let me know and I'll keep an eye out for you.
