Stationed overseas
Hi everyone. my name is Tim and I am in the U.S. military stationed in England. I and from Annapolis Md but have lived in the Virginia Beach area for most of my military career. I discovered this website through the youtube channel after listening to Rich Dad Poor Dad. My wife has her own company and we are looking to start investing her profits into real estate. Living overseas might create a challenge for the short term of 2 years but I would still like to see what we can do from afar. I am looking for turnkey investments in Maryland and Virginia Beach area. I look forward to the wealth of knowledge I can gain from this page and all of you

Welcome! Small world, I am from Annapolis MD. My husband is also active duty. We are buy and hold investors and we self manage everything no matter where Bupers takes us. I don't do turnkey so I can't offer any advice there but wanted to connect. We have a place in Virginia Beach that rents really well. Let me know if I can help.

Welcome to BP, I am a military guy too and was stationed in England for a year. That is about the time I really got going in real estate. I have networked with a lot of overseas investors looking to build their rental portfolio here so it can be done, just make sure you find the right people to help you out. Good luck!
I did know a turnkey property in MD. Tell me your purpose, and requirements of the property you would like to buy, your budget and so on.
Thanks Elizabeth,
I am in the process of reading the bigger pockets ultimate beginers guide to real estate investing. There are a ton of things I still need to learn. How are you able to self manage properties when you are not stationed there anymore? Also what are your thoughts on buying a home to live in while we are stationed conus? I have heard two things one is the government gives us a housing allowance so we should defiantly buy with the intention of renting when we leave or possibly selling. The other is to rent a home whereever we are stationed while still looking for homes to buy as investments. Personally it makes sense to look for homes that we could live in for the time frame of the assignment and rent it out when we leave.
William,
I agree that Annapolis is a bit pricey!! One of the things I heard in a BP podcast was buy where you know. I've started looking around Fort Meade also. There seems to be some cheaper areas where I could get started.

Tim,
Welcome to the team. Each idea works renting or owning and renting out once you leave. It depends on the team you build to support you. I am prior service also and have lived Va Beach as well as the Fort Meade and Fort Belvoir areas.
BP has proven to be a good resource excellent knowledge base in here.
I have heard of a service called Renter Warehouse, which from my research has excellent reviews

Eric Wesley,
Thanks for the info!
Hi Tim,
We are now retired Air Force. I met my husband when he was stationed in England. We were there for several years and have also been stationed in Germany and Italy where we came back from last year. We are currently stationed in the D.C. Area (DOD) but are still investing in Oklahoma as the cash flow is so much better. We purchased our last 3 homes sight unseen it is very possible to invest long distance.
Good luck.
Hey Sara, Just saw your post that you invest in Oklahoma. I have a great rental property up for sale in Tulsa, OK. If you may be interested contact me for details.
