Hi my name is Taurice and my real estate goals are to build my networth, network and secure retirement and a the same time provide quality housing to tenants, create quality spaces for homebuyers and become a problem solver for those in need. and . I am a carpenter by trade and love what i do, and this is my story of how i have become so interested  in learning real estate investing...I am originally from New Jersey and was employed by a very big real estate company called Sackman Enterprises  based in New York. Long story short i was involuntarily involved in a lawsuit brought against the company by the department of labor and eventually laid off. In 2012 I relocated to maryland permanently  and began looking for work. i came across a home that was being renovated and made contact with the person in charge and was hired to work. Up until this point i never knew anything about wholesale, fixing and flipping  or anything for that matter of investing in real estate. After having conversations with this guy that hired me, and  researching terms i would hear him say ,i found that he was a wholesaler that was on a joint venture with a capital partner. In fact my first and only wholesale deal to date (which didn't turn out to good )was with this guy. Fast forward 3 months later and we finished the home  which sold in 10 days , and we are moving on to  another project in Dundalk MD. In  a conversation with the guy that hired me he told me that if i find him a property and he is able to get a buyer we would split the profit 50/50. I took him for his word and that was that. I find a property buy looking in the newpaper and i call the number, to see if i can get the person to show the house to me and the wholesaler. At this point, after sleepless nights and countless hours of research(haven' t ran across bigger pockets yet) I am a little bit(just a little)more knowledgeable then i was a few months ago. So the contract is signed right there as the  home is being shown and closing is in two weeks. I wanted to be at closing for 2 reasons. 1. I wanted to have that  experience and see what it was like to be at a closing table for the first time in my life and 2. i wanted to be sure of what the assignment fee was going to be. Long story short  is the closing date kept getting moved back (per se) and i never seen the closing table, but received a few hundred dollars about 45 days of getting the run around. I still worked for this guy during this time. I even came in on saturdays. I decided to track down the buyer and ask a few questions, that he was more then willing to answer after i explained the situation to him. and needless to say all of my suspicions were confirmed. So my hard lesson learned is know how to conduct business  and then keep business business . For awhile i let this one situation deter me but, My dreams (and even my nightmares ) are consumed by everything real estate...whether its conducting the real estate deal of the millennium or falling from the roof of a tudor into a endless bottomless pit and passing "FOR SALE" sign the whole way down. Bigger Pockets was suggested to me by a friend and  it is all i expected  it to be
