Hi fellow BPers

I wanted to introduce myself here after adding my profile pic. Thanks Brandon Turner for the qqquiiicckkkk tiiipp. I'm new to real estate investing, But I have read through most of the UBG as well as listened to the podcasts I'm up to podcast 23. I've also purchased both Bigger Pockets books by Jay Scott, I've only read the one on estimating Rehab costs.

Right now I'm in the search to purchase a multifamily, this will be owner occupied because I'd like to take advantage of the first time home buyer programs. I'm planning to finance using NACA or MassHousing programs, quite possibly use their rehab loans. Anyone have opinions on using one vs. the other?

I really enjoy reading all the posts here on BP, looking to get out to some networking events or REIA events in the coming months to meet some new people and learn as much as possible.

Hi Peter, welcome to BP.

Looks like you are doing a good job utilizing a lot of the resources here. That is a great start for you! You can get a pretty good education in anything you want to know about real estate here pretty fast.

Also a great idea to get out to some of the local investor meetings. Ann is actually talking on the subject of buying an owner occupied multi at the NEREIA in Chelmsford in October I believe. That should be something you check out. That is a very good meeting in general so try to get to the next few before that (Just missed it last night) as it is also pretty easy to get to for you. Some other good ones that are pretty easy would be the Black Diamond meetings, which Ann is one of the co-hosts of, in both Worcester and Waltham (Believe next meetings are the 20th and 27th respectively). To keep this from being the @Ann Bellamy show there are other meetings out there too. :)

Since you want to do buy and hold there are some landlord specific groups around best ones I hear are in the Worcester county including the Northern Worcester County Landlord Association (NWCLA). There are also many other general REIAs and investor meetings North and South of Boston.
