New member exploring real estate

Dustin Wheeler
Posted

Real estate has always been in the back of my mind as a way to increase our wealth and provide for our family. I just never knew how to get in and working the 9-5, kids, home, etc took my time. I know that something has to change and I want to explore purchasing real estate. I'm here to learn and network.

Hi Dustin! You’re in the right place to learn and connect with people who’ve been in your shoes. Start with the basics, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and take it one step at a time. Looking forward to seeing your progress and hearing about your first deal.

Welcome!

Start off by completing your profile. It helps a lot with networking on here.

Other than that, be a sponge and soak up as much content to learn the game. Then take action. The last part is where results happen. Don't get stuck in education / analysis paralysis.

@Dustin Wheeler Welcome to BP! This platform is a great resource, especially when you’re first starting out. I suggest listening to the BP podcasts and reading through the blogs and books they offer. Try not to get overwhelmed as there’s a lot of information on BP and many avenues within real estate investing.

When I was starting out, I was interested in so many strategies, but I discovered that I did my best when I focused on one or two and really built my knowledge around them. For me and my goals, I focus on long-term investing in residential single-family homes in Florida and Georgia. If you have any specific questions, I’d be glad to help!

Since you mentioned you're working 9-5, I’d suggest look into turnkey rental and considering property managers to help manage you’re property. Juggling between work and personal life can be tough, but having a property manager can take some of the pressure off and let you focus on your other priorities
