Welcome to BP Stan!

Great to hear you're starting your REI journey! When picking a market, I would look for things like population and job growth, rental demand, and economic diversity—basically, is the area attracting people and businesses? I would also check median home prices vs. rent potential, landlord-friendly laws, and supply vs. demand trends. If it's an STR market, tourism and seasonality matter too. What type of investing are you leaning toward?

Hi Kevin, welcome to the world of real estate investing! Given your situation, syndications sound like a solid way to get started—especially since they're more passive and offer tax benefits while you focus on your career. House hacking or STRs could work too if you find the right deal, but I get why being a landlord in a VHCOL area might not be ideal. If you ever decide to go the STR route, mountain properties can do really well with the right management. Either way, you're in a great position to start building wealth through real estate. Best of luck!
