Short Term Rental Amenities
Hello All!
My wife and I are in the process of closing on a 4 bed/3 bath, 2700 sq ft home with a walk out basement in Greensboro, NC. While we hope to grow into all this space one day, currently our small family of 3 has no use for all of this space.
Luckily we (or should I say "I") have a hankering to get into real estate investing, so we are thinking about using the basement as a short term rental.
The basement:
- 1200 sq ft
- 2 Beds
- 12'x11'
- 11'x8.5
- Full Bathroom
- Large living area
- Stinky Carpets that need to be removed
- Acoustic tile ceilings that have been painted black
- No Kitchen area (appliances or countertops
- sliding glass door entrance
- No apparent path from parking area
What can we do to make this space great and really appealing for short term renters? Do you have recommendations on flooring, ceiling, bed layout, kitchen appliances, desks, entrance, or anything else that we could use to make the short term rental stellar?
Are there any resources that you would recommend for developing a space like this?
Thanks in advance!
Nathan

Congrats Nathan! I have your #1 recommendation: go on Airbnb & VRBO - look at other highly-rated properties in your area (or even in other areas) to see what’s working well. Then copy it!
STR is all about hospitality & attention to detail. But it isn't rocket science. Pretty much guaranteed you will find inspiration from other people's listings
