So I am a big fan of Yale Appliances blog. They are one of the largest appliance shops in the greater Boston area. Even though I don't need any appliances, I still read their blog and subscribe. They provide data on repairs from their repair shops. Direct info from a major service provider on repairs of just about any appliance is a good thing!

They have a new blog that just came out that I thought would be of interest to STR owners. Seeing as some folks have small closet units or next to no space for a washer/dryer, the 2 newer units they compare might fit the bill.

The GE Profile UltraFast all in one is pretty cool. 4.8cuft wash and dry all in one. The other is the LG WashTower which is a traditional all in one stack and 4.5cuft. It is smaller than a 2 unit stack so it will fit in areas where others won't.

What is also interesting is they are both heat pump dryers so no venting required. The GE is 120v only while the LG is 240v.

These could be options for smaller cabins where fitting a washer/dryer isn't easy.

I’m a big fan of used washers and dryers. All of the new electronics and keypads in newer units are solutions in search of a problem. Plus the water and energy saving features that end of hindering performance. I was trying to use my parents washer and there was no way to fill it up more if you wanted to give your clothes more space or let them soak, it had a sensor that decided how much water you can use. And this wasn’t even in California.

There’s a character in my area (how could you not be if this is your business lol) who gets all the haulaways from a local appliance retailer and hooks them up for you. In 10 years I’ve replaced the Washer and Dryer from him one time each and spent around $1000 total, installed out the door.
