Listing on Airbnb during SXSW

Dan Lewis
Posted

I'm in the process of converting a LTR to MTR (3br/2ba house) in South Austin and expect to be mostly complete with furnishing by beginning of March.  I'm considering temporarily listing it short term on Airbnb during the SXSW event to take advantage of the elevated rates prior to listing it monthly on Furnished Finder, Airbnb, etc.  Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated on whether or not this would be advantageous or more trouble than its worth.  I currently own 3 STRs in San Diego BTW.

Make sure you don't do what owners in Phoenix did. Jack up rates and sit empty during one of the biggest events of the year. And I think it could be worth it, especially if it doesn't conflict with any of your MTR bookings.
