Portland Airbnb rules

Mac McDonald
Posted

I'm working on my first deal in Portland and my plan was to use my SFH in Kenton as a full-time Airbnb. I read the rules an regs today and became disheartened. Seems like the permitting inspection process, neighbor notification and only being able to rent it out for 100 days of the year is a strong deterrent.

Anyone have experience renting out their SFH in Portland on Airbnb and care to share? Any ways of getting around this?

The other plan was to rent my house outright, but rentals in my area aren’t quite cash flowing where it would make sense, which is my short term was appealing.

As long as you have a long-term tenant in the studio (who rents 270 days out of the year), you should be able to rent out the rest of the house on AirBnb year-round.
