@Lisa Thoele it has 2 bedrooms with a finished detached studio that also has a bed and temp control.

@Brad Hammond thanks for the info this is helpful!

I'm working on my first deal in Portland and my plan was to use my SFH in Kenton as a full-time Airbnb. I read the rules an regs today and became disheartened. Seems like the permitting inspection process, neighbor notification and only being able to rent it out for 100 days of the year is a strong deterrent.

Anyone have experience renting out their SFH in Portland on Airbnb and care to share? Any ways of getting around this?

The other plan was to rent my house outright, but rentals in my area aren’t quite cash flowing where it would make sense, which is my short term was appealing.

@James Wise Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate your time and insight. Would you say the surrounding areas like shaker and university heights have similar reputations for rent and tenants? I’m open to any safe bet area as is my father.

I’m looking to invest in my first rental property that would ideally be a multi unit of some sort. The plan would be to provide a place for my dad to live on one side (paying rent) and watch over the other properties in the building. When I see these units (duplexes, 4 plexes, etc) it seems too good to be true.

How is the rental market in these areas?

Is there growth in this market?

I would be out of state, what are some property management companies I should look into?

Thanks for your time.
