Seperate water meters but bill is still in landlords name
Hi BP, I own a duplex in PA and recently upgraded the hot water system from a single oil fueled system to a duel electric hot water heater system. The two hot water heaters have been installed and the second meter will be installed in the next week or so. Once complete, the tenet will be responsible for the cost of the water and heating the water.
The issue is that the county does not allow water bills to be in the name of tenents and must remain with the owner. Therefore, although the bill will be seperated by the two meters, I do not have a process to allocate this cost to the tenets on a monthly basis.
Has anyone dealt with this in the past / what would be the best system for having my tenets pay there monthly water bill?
Thanks
Jason B.

That is awful that the county makes the owner pay the tenants utility bill. I would not be happy about that and I'm sure your not.
Luckily they don't do that in SC and they don't put utility liens on the properties for the tenants not paying their bills!
