Cashing a Rental Check from a Third Party

I recently received a rental check from a tenant's parents. The tenant told me that she had to order new checks and hadn't received them yet, which is why the check is in her mom's name. Are there any issues with me cashing the check, or should I refuse it? I just don't want to get in a legal situation where I create a tenancy with that person by accepting the check.

I've accepted them. It's better than not getting paid.
