Well, what's your plan for BED BUGS?

If you get them....and your tenant leaves.....then what?

Caught about 30 seconds of a bedbug special on TV. But it was interesting because they were showing a guy with an insulated box trailer that he could heat the interior to 180 degrees.

All the furniture goes inside and he heats it up to kill the bedbugs.

I'm sure it beats throwing all your furniture out and replacing it.

Bill,

I had to deal with this in a vacant property at the start of a rehab. Used an exterminator, since we had time and the contractor doing the rehab would be told of the days that the exterminator was going to "bomb" the place.

As this problem has grown in attention, some innovations have come along. there is one service that has a truck (a type used for moving furniture) where the back has been heated to make it into a sort of an oven. The furniture and belongings are then treated in that heater to kill the bugs.

But in the end, the tiny crevices (behind switch plates and outlet covers, between floor borads and subflooring) can still serve as hiding places, so I still think the 3 rounds with the exterminator are worthwhile.

Forgot this had come up, I've been "under the weather" and not paying attention, although I saw my attempt at humor, anyway.....they have hit our area and I'm inspecting everything that comes inside, haven't seen a thing! As much stuff as I have in my home it would be a disater area.

Bill,

Are you one of those hoarder types? :D

Watch out, they might say they're using the truck that's got the heated rear, and instead just drive off with your hoard!

LOL! Well, truth be known, someone I let come in is a pack rat, (her house was much bigger than this one) so if they do drive off with stuff, maybe I ought to look for a couple of those little critters....lol Thanks Steve!
