Hello I currently house hack a duplex in Modesto. My tenant is on section 8 and was wondering how I should go about raising rent?

I agree with all of the above, I know that in my area you need to send a 60-day notice to the tenant and the tenant's section 8 office to give an appropriate amount of time for the office to process and either accept or reject your request.

I was also told that you should be following up regularly to ensure this 60 day window is being reached.

I was thinking of doing the same with my tenant but I am actually going to send a notice to quit instead, for other reasons.

Best of luck!
