To all the female investors!!!
To all the amazing women investors on BP! My name is Jenny Cunningham from FL, I started investing in real estate about 2 years ago with my partner (male) and have mainly focused on doing flips while recently looking to get into the rental market as well. As I'm sure you all know being a female in the investing world has its challenges of which I have faced with many with people not showing me the same respect as my partner receives. I did some quick searches but can't find any groups directed to women investors and I want to see if anyone is interested in a female group chat where we can bounce ideas, questions or anything to do with the investing world and help each other out! I think it would be very beneficial for the less experienced investors to get a chance to talk to the experienced investors and hear some of the challenges they have been able to overcome as a female investor. Hoping this can help everyone from the beginner to some of the most experienced. If you're interested please comment here or send me a quick message. I'd love to hear from everyone!!
Jenny Cunningham great idea!!! I'm in as well!
@Jenny Cunningham, I'd say you hit a nerve! Congratulations and thank you.
Thank you all for the comments! I think it's going to be a great group of ladies to have real estate conversations! Does anyone have any suggestions on where to have the group? I've researched it and Facebook is looking like the easiest way for having a group chat. I just don't want to exclude people who don't have a Facebook account..
Way to go! It's the same for younger people as well, you don't get as much respect, this one lady treated me like I wasn't even ganna get pre approved for a triplex, looked at me all weird, and 2 weeks later I bought the house!
John Thedford Let's not be ignorant here. I think you could have seen from the amount of interest alone that this is something female investors have to deal with. I'm Jenny's partner and I witness it first hand on a very regular basis. Sometimes it's minimal and other times it's blatantly obvious that she isn't getting the respect she deserves just because she's a young female doing business in a male dominated industry.
It's very easy for us to say it doesn't exist when we have absolutely zero knowledge of what it's really like to be in their shoes. Josh and Brandon ask this question to almost every female investor that they have on their podcast for a reason.
I'd love to be a part of this. I just joined BP today. My husband and I own and manage two single family rentals and are looking to grow that business.
Ok ladies, I made a Facebook page to get us started! It's called "Women's Real Estate Investors Group". If you ask to join I will add everyone. Also once you are part of the group you can add your friends and anyone else. Very excited to have this group so we can share stories and experiences and basically just help each other out in any way we can! Thank you again for the great response.
What an Awesome idea! Woman power!

No.
Just kidding. But this:
. . . and that the only person who voted it up was also male, just illustrates the need for this group even more.
Men 'splaining to women that what women experience on a daily basis isn't real, or is all in our heads, is but one more manifestation of the very real discrimination we do in fact experience every day. Not from all men. But from many men.
It's too bad that the word "mansplaining" has morphed into a catchall for any time a man explains anything to anyone--because in its purest, original meaning--you've illustrated the concept beautifully, John Thedford.
What a excellent idea! Let's do it! My goal for this year is to do 2 flips and use the profit to build on more properties. My area inventory is about 1.6 months and not many great deals for flipping. I'm always learning about REI because the more knowledge I have under my belt, the better I can negotiate deals, accurately calculate repair costs and etc. If I could be of any help, let me know.
Let's rock it ladies! Best of luck to all!
I'm all in for Let GO :-)
You beat me to it Jenny Cunningham
Guess I'll have to do mine for bald, black, men, over 40
👴🏾
Dani Z. I totally agree with all of the above! Well said! The group is on Facebook right now "Women's Real Estate Investors Group". Everyone join!
Jenny, I don't feel any discrimination, to John's point, but then I have a female realtor and a female mortgage broker who are strong, awesome women and we love working together! On the other hand, if you have been doing flips, I am positive you have run into sexism with contractors and laborers. There is no doubt that they try to take advantage if they think we are less experienced or won't argue. I think you have a great idea and can't wait for the FB link, even if it's just to have friends and a sounding board!

Here's the link!
The link don't work for me :-(
Brenda Lyons maybe you could try typing in women's real estate investors group into the search box on Facebook instead and see if it pops up!
I try that I even copy and paste it something different came up
@Jenny CunninghamI got it Thanks You :-)
I am game.
Girls rule, boys droool!!
:)
@Jenny CunninghamI am late to this thread (and just recently joined BP), but are there no options for private groups chats in the BP website itself? If not, I will go and search this on fb to join! Thanks for creating it, I'd love to be able to hear about and prepare for what might be out there. This is part of our due diligence! :)
