2+ Acre parcels in East Bay places I like under $300K - 8 of them

Because land tends to be one of the more volatile asset classes, and has so much potential for increases in value when brought to its highest best use, I've always like the idea of snagging a decent size chunk of land on the cheap - especially if it's in a core market with employment, decent commute times, not an overabundance of buildable land, and some ability to see the value in it being developed in the future.

After a conversation with @Shiloe B. the other night, I decided to poke around. I was a little surprised to find that there were 8 lots in this particular area of the East Bay that I was searching (many more down by Hayward) that were more than 2 acres, and cost less than $300K. Several of them are adjacent to pretty dense sub-divisions, implying the potential for similar development. These are just on market. Not auctions. And unfortunately, I think the days of getting something like these in the 5-digits are over. But a couple near the developments look like interesting prospects to hold for the future...

I particularly like the one up near Hilltop..

Ouch to the guy that bought it only to realize that he couldn't even access it.  I hear horror stories about situations like that.  You really need to do your homework.  I feel like buying land in the bay area can be a very lucrative investment, but you need to be very, very careful.  There's that parcel in El Sobrante reason is priced so low.  Such a shame too, that's prime location.  I'm beginning to think of all the creative ideas on how you would be able to use that land!  Buying land like this sure makes you turn your thinking cap on.
