Provide finder fee for STR Rental?

Hey there, I am trying to get creative and drive additional bookings through local wedding venues. They create experiences, as do I, plus I have a large home (5000sf) and property (10 acres) which would accommodate a large wedding party, so it feels like a good match. There's no request as of now to provide a finder's fee, but perhaps it could be a motivator for them to push traffic to my place.

Does anyone else out there have this type of arrangement? General thoughts or things I need to be aware of?

Cheers! James

Hi James,

Your idea of collaborating with local wedding venues to drive bookings to your property is a great one, especially since you can accommodate large wedding parties. Offering your home as an accommodation option for out-of-town guests or even the bridal party adds value to the overall wedding experience, which could make your property a popular choice.

Considering a finder’s fee or referral bonus is smart, as it gives venues an incentive to recommend your space. Even though there’s no request for it now, presenting this option could motivate them to send more traffic your way. You could structure this fee based on a percentage of the booking, ensuring it benefits both parties.

Additionally, focus on how your property can complement the wedding venue’s services. For instance, you could host rehearsal dinners, pre-wedding gatherings, or offer the home as a honeymoon suite. Highlighting this in joint marketing efforts with the venues, such as social media collaborations, brochures, or websites, could further drive interest.

Be sure to cover your bases with legal and insurance considerations, as hosting large groups can carry liability risks. Check any local zoning laws that might limit your property’s use for events.

Also, consider reaching out to other wedding vendors, like planners or photographers, who might be open to recommending your property to clients. By forming these strategic relationships, you can increase visibility and create a solid referral network.

Bes regards,

Drago
