Real estate tax guy.
Hey everyone.
Was wondering if anybody would recommend a tax guy that works with real estate investors in Southern California?

Most people don't realize they don't need a tax professional in their state, or locally. Some states, such as NY and CA, have complex tax laws (there are a few others) which would mean you might want someone from your home state. Other times if your rentals are all concentrated in one or two states, making sure there is a level experience with that state is important. It's more about the expertise than the closeness to you... most advisers I speak with have done away with in person meetings, or maybe once a year if that. My point is, look for someone you are comfortable with first and don't get too hung up on where their office is. The people who have been recommended or posted on this forum are all a great place to start.
