Would I qualify for a loan?

Winston Yang
Posted

Greetings to the big pocket community.

I am a US citizen with 800 credit score, 3 rental properties that are generating income.  They were cash purchases, free and clear. However, rents are my only income in the United States.  I am looking to move onto bigger projects and I would like to use loans to help me expand. I want to get into fourplex or small multifamily.

Would I qualify for a loan?   Very grateful for any advice.

Definitely speak to a number of lenders and see what offers you can get. You should be able to run scenarios and get a gauge before they do hard inquiries. Lenders are being especially tough on people who rely on rental income because of COVID's impact on the market and people not paying rent, but that won't be true for ever so if you can't get a good loan now, try again next year when things (hopefully) have settled into a new normalcy.
