Why don't people put their contact information in their profile?

Hey BiggerPockets,

Like a lot of you, I use BiggerPockets as a networking tool, an education tool and a solutions factory.

If I see a person that I find particularly insightful or helpful to my business, often, I find it helpful to just give that person a call or send an email rather than a private message they may or may not get for an extended period of time. Too often though, I find people who don't have their phone numbers or emails in their profile.  How do they expect to maximize the forums and the valuable information provided for a very reasonable fee if they don't have their contact information in their profile?

Am I missing something?  I have both my email and my phone number in my profile (if I recall, they were there even when I was a free member).  I've never been spammed or drunk dialed or called for anything that didn't resemble financing.  What is the downside of adding a phone number and an email to the BP profile?

Stephanie

I can only speak for myself personally but I don't publicly advertise my phone number or contact information anywhere as I simply don't see a need and/or benefit of doing so. If I want to engage with another member I will talk with them via PM and can always exchange phone numbers and contact info at that point should there be a need. It has nothing to do with BP specifically.
