Age Discrimination in Real Estate

As a young professional in real estate, I can't help but acknowledge when other young professionals are involved as well. This is a question for everyone:

When looking to work with someone in real estate, no matter the subject (agent, contractor, PM, etc), does age matter to you? Not looking at experience, just age. Ex. You are looking for a PM, you figure out they're early 20's, or whatever age you would consider "young", would you still take them in the running to be your PM?

If not, why? And does anyone prefer to work with someone younger? (Again, not basing off experience, purely age). I want to hear about everyone's experience working with young professionals, the good, the bad, everything in between, answer to the above question, anything!

When it comes to age and real estate, we often make quick assumptions.

Older Investors: They’re seen as slow, set in their ways, and resistant to new technology. However, they bring time-tested methods and valuable experience to the table.

Younger Investors: They’re often viewed as energetic, motivated, and quick to embrace new technology. Yet, they may lack experience and haven’t faced the tough lessons that come with time.

But these assumptions are just that—assumptions.

I know individuals in their 60s who outpace those in their 20s, and I've met people in their 20s with more experience than landlords with over a decade in the business.

In the end, what truly matters is the person, not the age. These stereotypes often dissolve within minutes of a real conversation. So, let’s focus on the individual strengths and experiences each person brings to the table.
