Posted

Hey guys,

I am completely new to REI. I am 28 and live in the US on a work visa.To gain financial freedom, I set out a goal have financial freedom by the age of 33 by having US$4K per month of passive income (post taxes) in the next 5 years. How realistic is this goal ? & how do I plan and what set of actions should I be taking right now?

I have currently no loans and have saved up US $50K. I am looking for guidance & direction.

Thanks!

Hey @Navtej Singh Saini, welcome to the BP community and the massive world of REI!

Short Answer: Yes, that goal is absolutely attainable.

Long Answer: If you are not sure where to even start in real estate, you need to educate yourself. Start reading some of the many awesome real estate books out there, listen to podcasts every opportunity you get and spend a ton of time here on BP researching topics you have questions about. Next, you need a solid 5 year vision. What you said above is a good start but you'll want to add some detail to that. Where do you really want to be in 5 years? Now work backwards from this to set shorter goals and a plan should start to form. Goal setting and plan developing, along with increasing your RE knowledge, will help you to determine how to start and what direction to go in.
