How do I get started on Note Investing?

Hi Everyone! I am very new to real estate investing and, through my research just, learn about note investing here in the BiggerPockets community! I would love to learn more about the subject from someone who is currently  well verse in the field. I have a couple of general questions regarding great places to find good deals on notes and how they evaluate which market to get into. I am looking to start out in the Glendale, CA area and I also have a lot of knowledge on the New York City area, where I grew up.

I do not have a lot of funds (just $15K to get started) but I do have a lot of time to invest since I am hoping to start doing this full time.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
