In Need of Clarity and DIrection

Jack D Falkner
Posted

Hi everyone, my name is Jack and I am an aspiring real estate investor in the San Diego area. I am 17 years old and have so much passion and motivation for the real estate business. I recently found a partner at a networking event and we were wholesaling a deal together. I told my parents to see what they thought and they really didn't like it and shut me down almost instantly. They made me call up my partner and cancel everything on him because I needed a "College Education" and that I was too young. I spent hours each night researching marketing strategies, doing comps on properties, messaging cash buyers, etc. I gave up weekends and worked so hard just for them to tell me that I was too young. I have a burning desire to be successful in this business and I know that I want more out of life. So I am reaching out to you guys in need of some clarity or any suggestions you guys may have. Anything will help me out. Thank you!!

@Jack D Falkner I'm sorry your parents are not on board.  Did you tell them that you were not going to college to do this instead?  I don't see why you can't do both.  Maybe you need to let the dust settle a bit and then go back to your parents with a well-laid out plan and show them what you have been doing to get started in real estate.  Do it when emotions are not running high.  When do you turn 18? As a 17 year old, you are still a minor, and your parents are trying to do their best to look out for you. Find out what their fears are and then work to alleviate them,
