Can i delete a post.

If you really regret posting something or posted personal information that you wish to remove, it's on the internet forever???

@Nkiruka Okeke - That's the case with any website. With the internet, there aren't really do overs -- most websites have other websites that grab (legally or illegally) information . . . it is pretty impossible to make anything disappear once you put it online. That said, if you have a very specific issue, please contact support@biggerpockets and perhaps they can assist you.
Yes, "Bigger Pockets" should fix this. You should definitely have the ability to edit or delete any post which you have posted. Please fix this small issue and add this option for us!!
@R. J. L. it is working as intended. This is not going to be changed. We do not allow users to remove posts and only allow them to be edited for a short time. Why? Because sometimes posters don't like the replies they get and want to take down their post after other members have invested time in replying.
Further, once you make a post here or anywhere, its there forever. You can never fully delete what you post. Its gets indexed by search engines very quickly and all those search engines keep complete copies of everything they index.

@R. J. L. - This is not something to 'fix' - the system was designed that way.

Okay, so it does not need fixed. It needs re-engineered :)
You should be able to delete a post at any time any where on this site. That should be the policy of BP if they really care about their end users. Want to be Facebook? Play games. Otherwise make it simple. #biggerpockets

Jason -
First, we care about our users, which is why our policies exist. When you allow users to delete their own posts, you disrupt the flow of conversations.
This is an OPEN forum, not just a closed network like Facebook. I don't know any forum community that allows users to delete their own posts. We give users the ability to edit a post for 10 minutes after posting for those situations where you say something that you realize upon review needs a tweak. We also allow users to amend a post at any time with additional information.
We have no plans to change how the forums work as it pertains to the deletion of posts.
Just adding my $0.02 here, I just tried to add a post through the app and it crashed as I hit post. So I tried, same thing, tried again same thing. I log on to the browser and finally works. Turns out it worked all 4 times and now have 4 of the same post, with no way to delete any of them.
If you post profanity, they MAY delete it for you without notice:)

Deleting posts is not needed. Posts can already be edited and/or amended, if necessary.
Except you can't change the category. I just made a post with the correct category, I went to 'Post' it and Bigger Pockets said my headline was too short. I corrected it and then clicked post and found when it prompted me to create a longer headline it also 'reset' my category so it posted to the wrong category and it won't let me edit it :(
I realize this is an old thread but did have a thought I wanted to add to it. I am on BiggerPockets to have discussions with other RE pros and pros-to-be. I was unaware that the forums were completely open and being indexed by search engines. In the thread of a conversation, statements may be made that are fine within the context of the conversation, but may not reflect well or accurately when the snippet arises within a search engine or other index tool.
There may also be information that I/we are happy to share with the BP community, but not necessarily with the Internet-at-large, especially any details about our specific properties or business practices and processes.
I would like to DELETE a reference! How can I do that PLEASE... When the reference was written it was valid but since then ISSUES have come to light and I NOT LONGER WISH TO BE ASSOCIATED with this current reference! I NEED THEM OFF MY PROFILE PAGE. Please help!

Thank you for letting me know, Josh. I accidentally created two of the same posts since the first time I posted, it shows there was an error and did not go through, so I simply hit the post button again and it showed it posted but also that the first post that I thought had not gone through due to the error message in fact did go through. Not a big deal but it shos on the forum threads my two identical posts back to back.
We will be filing a lawsuit for inaccuracy in a comment. This comment has factually incorrect information. The original poster (Kevin) wants to retract the comment. That said, your forum does not allow for a post to be deleted. We will be filing a lawsuit against you for keeping defamatory and false information on your forum. Please provide an address where we may send legal notice.
