Hello BP

I’m building new construction house, hired painter bid was 15,800 and I buy all material, I paid him 8,000 when job was 80% complete, now I look and horrible quality, they did not putty nail holes on Millwork, can see siding through thin layer of paint, light oversprays on hardwood , cabinets and walls, worse staining job on cedar you will ever see… told him to fix and he paint brushed made it much worse - what do I do?

depends on the contractor if they are a large company.. they might have had their D crew on the job.. and hey will send in some other crew to make it right.

for sure dont pay them till they fix it and if they dont hire another painter to finish it.

Just for context we pay 2 to 2.25 a foot for our new construction and they supply paint .  Stain is extra but this includes all the millwork around windows and floors etc.

so 2k sq house  4 to 4500 to paint interior   same for exterior thats body of house trim and seperate door color Another 4 to 4500 for grand total of 9k.. for a 2k sq ft new build in Portland market.
