Which broker is the right broker?

I went to a virtual career fair & have some brokers to choose from.

Just wanted to see thoughts, opinions & experiences on some of these brokers to see if it’s a right fit for me.

I’m looking for a broker that will be there for me but at the same time offer me things that will help me succeed & make myself a better agent if needed. Trainings, mentorships & etc.

1. Keller Williams

2. RE/Max

3. JP & Associates

4. eXp

5. New Western Acquisitions

6. Berkshire Hathaway

Do you have an idea about what your target market is going to look like? Will you be working primarily with investors, first time home buyers, high end properties, or something else? In most markets that I've worked in, there are always brokerages that excel in each of these areas. If you plan to work with a lot of investors, I would suggest finding a broker with a strong in-house property management team. This helps create a seamless experience, which becomes even more important, if you want to work with a lot of out of state investors.

Also, the individual that will be training and mentoring you will be much more important to you than the brokerage in general. I would suggest finding a place where you can pick a mentor that is focused on the type of transactions that you're interested in doing (ask if this is something that's available at each place you're considering). There is a ton to learn when you're first getting started, and just the online courses and group sessions won't cut it for most new agents. That's a big reason so many new agents don't make it.
