Hello all,

I just passed the RE salesperson exam in Michigan and now I am looking for a Brokerage to hang my licence. Does anyone have any recommendations? What should i look for as a newbie. Do some companies offer perks for investors such as property management? I live in Canton near westland, livonia, plymouth, northville, novi, Ann arbor.

Would love to hear any advice.

Hey Joe,
I'm also a new agent in Michigan. My advice to you is to find an agency that's personally owned. So you won't have to pay crazy fees. Good luck!

Do you mean, look for an agency that is more of a mom-and-pop place, not a national chain?  I am in the same boat, soon to be looking for  a brokerage as a new licensee.  My understanding is that the larger national brokerages offer extensive training geared toward retail real estate.  Anyone have thoughts about training?

Keri, my opinion is to find a "low key" or "mom-and-pop" agency especially if you don't have a lot of money to work with. FInd a broker whose been doing it for 25+ years, and the mentorship is unbeatable. I believe agencies like that are more personable with their employees, instead of being easily replaced in a national chain. A national chain (in my opinion) has a lot more upfront fees that most new agents can't afford. If you would like to PM me, I would be more than happy to share my views and opinions.
